Controversies | Accused for offending religious sentiments through his songIn 2014, Sippy Gill came into controversy after his song ’10 Mint’ become the topic of debate. In the video of the song, a Sikh Gurudwara has been used as the medium of making an announcement to rob of one’s daughter, which offended the religious sentiments of the people.Accused for spreading violence through his songsIn March 2020, an FIR was filed against Sippy Gill at Mehna police station under Sections 153A (promoting disharmony), 505 (making statements conducing to public mischief), 117 (abetting commission of offence by the public or by more than 10 people), and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code. The FIR was registered based on a complaint made by a Chandigarh-based lecturer and social activist named Pandit Rao Dharennavar, who claimed that the video of Sippy’s song ‘Gundagardi’ promotes violence and would have a bad impact on youngsters.[2]Hindustan TimesAccused for assaulting a manIn October 2023, Sippy Gill was booked by Mataur Police in Ajitgarh, Punjab, for assaulting and threatening a man with gun.
