| Controversy | On 1 April 2016, his girlfriend Pratyusha Banerjee was found dead in her rented apartment in Goregaon West, Mumbai, following which Rahul Raj was booked for abetting her suicide. On 2 July 2016, the Bombay High Court granted him anticipatory bail. Two years after the investigation, the Bangur Nagar police filed a chargesheet in the case in April 2018 after which Rahul filed a plea for discharge. The sessions court, however, discharged Rahul’s plea on 14 August 2023 by saying that Pratyusha died by suicide apparently because of Rahhul’s physical, emotional, financial harassment,and exploitation which had landed her in depression.[1]Hindustan Times |
